Story Knife Letter Opener

This beautiful Story Knife was carved from solid ivory by Alaskan Artist Bryon Amos. It is intended to be used as an executive letter opener, or may be displayed as the beautiful art that it is. Native elders tell stories to children using the “knife” as a stylus to draw out pictures in the snow, or on the ground. Grandmothers may tell a moral story while the child draws symbols to accompany the story. Story knives often have an animal depicted on them. This carved ivory story knife with seal motif measures about 6.5 inches long (16.5 cm).
